What makes a template "perfect" for engraving?
To ensure your engraving turns out clear and beautiful, please pay attention to the following:
- Sharp image (not blurry, no motion blur)
- Good lighting (preferably daylight, without strong shadows)
- High contrast (dark lines on a light background)
- Photographed or scanned straight (not tilted)
- If possible: crop tightly so only the subject is visible
Our engraving is very fine – that’s what makes it so elegant. Because of this, very small details (e.g., tiny scars, micro-scratches, or very fine skin irregularities) can appear more delicate. The important lines and shapes remain crucial for a beautiful result.
And: Our graphic team carefully prepares each file before engraving (contrast, lines, details) to ensure your design can be engraved optimally.
What should I pay attention to in handwriting or drawing?
- Please do not use colors – color areas/shading cannot be represented in the engraving
- Best to use a dark pen on white paper
- Good lighting and sharp image
- If possible, no lined or grid paper
Tips for a particularly clear result:
- Less is more: The less text and detail, the finer and clearer the engraving appears
- For children’s drawings, it’s best to use only outlines – without coloring or filled areas
In the image overview below, you can see examples of which templates are ideal – and which unfortunately are not suitable.
What is important for a fingerprint to be engraved well?
To ensure your fingerprint is clearly visible later, we especially need:
- distinct lines (not too light, not blurred)
- a sharp photo
- good lighting (preferably daylight)
Because the engraving is extremely fine, very small skin details (e.g., tiny scars or very fine interruptions) may appear softer. This ensures the engraving looks clean, delicate, and high-quality overall.
If you have selected multiple fingerprints for your jewelry piece, please label the files as “Finger 1,” “Finger 2,” “Finger 3,” etc., so we can assign them correctly.
In the image overview below, you can see examples of ideal templates – and which ones unfortunately are not suitable.
Fingerprint without fingerprint kit (DIY at home) – here’s how to do it easily
If you don’t have a fingerprint yet or aren’t using a kit, you can easily create one yourself:
- Use a soft pencil (e.g., 2B) to draw a dark area on a sheet of paper.
- Rub your fingertip several times over the area until it’s evenly colored.
- Carefully press a piece of clear tape onto your finger.
- Stick the tape onto a clean, white sheet of paper.
- Take a sharp photo of it – preferably in daylight.
If you like, take 2–3 photos – that way we can choose the best one.
How do I take a good nose photo for the engraving?
- Photograph the nose frontally and as close as possible
- Good lighting, ideally daylight (e.g., by a window)
- The focus point should be directly on the nose – so fine lines & textures are visible
- Please send multiple pictures to choose from, so we can select the best shot
If you have selected two different nose prints, please label the photos with “Nose 1” and “Nose 2”.
In the image overview below, you can see examples of how a suitable nose print should look.
Hand or footprint: Which file is best?
If you already have a hand or footprint (e.g., from the hospital), please upload it
as:
- a scan or
- a clear, sharp photo (well-lit, high contrast)
Also keep in mind: Due to the very fine engraving, very small irregularities can appear more delicate – the contours and clear shape are the most important.
Paw print: What should I upload?
Please send us one or more photos – either:
- a direct photo of the clean paw from below, or
- a paw print on paper (e.g., with non-toxic stamp ink)
Pay attention to:
- Good lighting
- Sharp, steady shot (no movement)
- preferably several photos/perspectives to choose from
If you have selected two paw prints, please label the images with “Paw 1” and “Paw 2”.
In the image overview below, you will find examples of suitable and unsuitable paw prints.
What if I'm unsure whether my file is suitable?
Simply upload them – our graphic team reviews every template and carefully prepares it before engraving. If something isn’t perfectly clear, we’ll find the best solution together.
